Is It Possible To Get A High Effect From Eating Poppy Seeds?

It is not possible to a high effect from eating poppy seeds, and this is because they contain no alkaloids. However it is possible for the seeds to have a trace amount of alkaloid, if the alkaloids have been extracted from the seed pod, if they have pierced the membrane protecting the seeds the alkaloid can coat them with minute amounts of the alkaloids found in the pod.

This can be seen rather than felt; when the alkaloid does leak onto the seeds and they're eaten it will show up in a false positive on a drug test. While at the same time there will be no ill affects felt when the seeds are eaten.

The alkaloids that are found in the poppy pods known as the drug opium found in the pod and is separated by a membrane from the seeds and unless it manages to seep through this membrane in the pod, the seeds are thoroughly protected. This means that they do not come in contact with the alkaloids and since they do not come in contact with the substance they are free of opium.

To extract these alkaloids slices are cut into the outer skin of the pod and do not puncture the membrane in any way as they are shallow slices. The poppy, from which opium is extracted, can still make use of the seeds for use in foods, without any of the side effects from the opium and are completely safe to eat. The only possible side effects will not be in how a person that eats the seeds would feel, but rather if they were to submit to a drug test, as is might show a positive.
