Poppies are favorites of gardeners for their 4 to 6 petals that form a bowl shape on the top of thick long stems each spring.

The poppy can be found in colors such as white, red, pink, yellow, orange and others growing in gardens. The poppy has pods that can be dried and used in dried floral arrangements and for crafts. The seeds in many species of poppies can be used in breads, rolls and to garnish vegetables and have a nutty taste. Oil is also extracted from the poppy seed, because these seeds contain things like linolic acid and omega 6.
